The FroggyMouth corrects incorrect swallowing functions. In a way that goes beyond the usual, because a shorter treatment time is required, results are better in many cases, and the risk of relapse is low.

The FroggyMouth corrects swallowing functions by teaching a new behavioral pattern. With a FroggyMouth between the lips, the upper and lower teeth make light contact during swallowing, and the tongue presses against the palate in the correct way (the tip of the tongue just behind the front upper teeth).

15 minutes per day, at least 3 months
The FroggyMouth is worn for 15 minutes per day while watching television. During that period the swallowing pattern changes, which eventually ensures that this also happens when the FroggyMouth is not being worn. This requires at least three months. Once swallowing is automated, the use of the FroggyMouth can be phased out. During this phase-out, if necessary, work can also begin on lip closure (possibly with the help of the specially developed Lippo’s). The already automated swallowing then provides an important basis for this.

Strictly follow the instructions
For the FroggyMouth to be effective, it is important to actually follow the accompanying instructions:

• Use for 15 minutes continuously every day. If the FroggyMouth is removed from the mouth during those 15 minutes, start again.
• Use the FroggyMouth while watching television at eye level, as the head is not bent at this point (looking straight ahead facilitates raising the back of the tongue).
• Continue watching attentively so that the head moves as little as possible and the swallowing method to be learned always takes place in the same way (allowing it to become automated).
• Do not talk with the FroggyMouth in your mouth.
• Give little to no instructions regarding swallowing; the correct swallowing process must be established subconsciously.

Watch the instructional video here, which was created specifically for everyone who is going to use the FroggyMouth. After use, the FroggyMouth can be cleaned with a toothbrush and toothpaste. Then dry it thoroughly and store it back in the case.

Small, medium, or large
The FroggyMouth is available in three sizes: small, medium and large. The width of the client's mouth determines the required version. When using the FroggyMouth, the corners of the mouth must remain relaxed. The basic principle is therefore: it is better to have a FroggyMouth that is slightly too small than one that is too large. Guidelines for size selection are:

• Small: for boys up to 10 years old and for girls up to 13 years old.
• Medium: for boys from 10 years old (and therefore also for adult men) and for girls from 13 years old (and therefore also for adult women).
• Large: for adult men with a large mouth size.

When to use it and when not to?
The FroggyMouth can be used from the age of 3 years. A stable anatomical environment is the only condition for its application. Therefore, it is not suitable for a very narrow upper jaw, because the tongue cannot assume a comfortable position against the palate. The tongue will not find its physiological reference points because there is insufficient space. Orthodontic work must first be done to widen the upper jaw.
However, if the palate is not too narrow, the FroggyMouth can be used for someone with a crossbite. Furthermore, it can be used in combination with fixed braces, removable braces, Invisalign braces, etc.
If there are weak or underdeveloped jaw and mouth muscles, using a Myo Munchee (in addition) to strengthen the muscles can be a good option.
