Tongue Gym (Liper device)
The liper device is now also called 'Tongue Gym'. The instrument is used while measuring the Kotlow classification, to hold the tongue back and tighten the tongue tie (instead of using the grooved director or a Tongue Guide Pro). Especially useful for measurements at children.
If a client's tongue tie is too short and it is surgically corrected or removed, it is very important for the parents to stretch the place where the tongue tie was, to prevent adhesion of the wound edges. With a liper device this is easy. An alternative to the liper device in this case is the Tongue Guide Infant Home.
